The care you need to recover

Clinical Care

A staff skilled to care for your loved one

Many of our residents enter the rehabilitation journey with medical needs that reach beyond the reason they are here. For one it may be a chronic heart issue, for another, it may be a pre-existing Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Without proper attention to these issues and concerns, rehabilitation can become interrupted or prolonged. Our skilled nursing team provides our residents with a wide range of medical services to make sure the recovery process goes as smoothly as possible.

Specialized Services

At Parkside we are uniquely equipped to provide exceptional care in the following ways:

IV Therapy

Intravenous (IV) therapy will sometimes be prescribed for a resident because of it's efficiency in delivering medications and fluid replacement throughout the body through circulatory system. Intravenous therapy may be used for fluid replacement (such as correcting dehydration), to correct electrolyte imbalances, to deliver medications, and for blood transfusions. IV therapy has been known to help with the following conditions:

  • Autoimmune Conditions
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Memory Enhancement
  • Depression
  • Infections
  • Dementia

Wound Management

The skin is a barrier to the outside world that protects the body from infection, radiation, and extremes of temperature.

Many types of wounds can damage the skin including abrasions, lacerations and penetrating wounds. Some wounds are deeper and need medical attention to prevent infection and loss of function caused by damage to underlying structures like bone, muscle, tendon, arteries, and nerves.

Being a wound care nurse takes more than knowledge, it takes expertise. With over 30 years of combined experience, our team is wound care certified. We know that we are not just treating a wound, we are treating the patient as a whole. We work with our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and dietitians to formulate the appropriate treatment plan to aid in wound healing and prevention.

Tracheostomy Management

A tracheostomy is a medical procedure that includes making a small opening in the neck so that a tube can be placed into the person's windpipe. The tube is placed below the vocal cords to allow air to enter the lungs. A tracheostomy is often needed when a individual's airway has become blocked due to a disease or other problem.

A tracheostomy presents new challenges to everyday activities such as eating, talking and simply breathing. It typically takes several days for a tracheostomy resident to adapt to the way of life that results from the procedure. This may be longer depending on the age and overall health condition of a resident. Our clinical team are trained and equipped to make sure our tracheostomy residents stay as comfortable as possible while learning the necessary exercises and techniques to achieve the best quality of life possible.
